Comments: Yeah!, I have lots of great memories of Dorris, My grandmother "Liz Ritchie" and my Aunt and Uncle, "Norma & Roy Kiser" lived there @ one time, I was born in "Hollywood" yes, and raised in Thousand Oaks, Ca "southern california" and as a kid I remember how much I looked forward to comming up for Thanksgiving once a year for a week, my Dad and all my uncles would go Duck hunting, or we would fish, it was so much fun, "I loved the way the it smelled with the snow it was so clean.

I did live in your town for a guess you might say a short time, was married for a "short time" to one of your residents, hope he is doing well, hope all of you are doing well.

Comments: I graduated from Butte Valley High School in 1939 and after graduating from nurse's training in Stockton in 1942, married John Vincent Brown who graduated from B.V.H.S. in 1932. Vint's father was custodian of the grammar school for sixteen years. He raised his three sons in Dorris, Richard, Vint and Lowell("Skeeter"). Vint passed away in 1957 and I have been married to Ralph Campfield for 47 years. I still love the smell of juniper after a summer thundershower, the view of Mt. Shasta from the north side and in fact, all of the valley. We were good friends with Claude and Virginia Olson, Herb and Mary Gordon, Melinda Meinecke, Donna Lang and many others. Comments: I've lived in Butte County since July 1981, moved a couple years ago(temporary) to "gorgeous" Siskiyou County! I explored Mc Cloud, Mt. Shasta, Yreka, Ashland, Dunsmuir, Weed(Lake Shastina and surrounding areas), etc. BUT I didn't make it to your area, yet. I've heard there is much natural beauty, also. I'm back(since Nov.2005) in Butte County, and I'm experiencing Mt. Shasta(the always, beautiful views!!)withdrawal. Comments: I spent the summer of 1945 in Doris. Uncles and Aunts, Lance and Charlene Poindexter and Bill and Lonie "Cotton" Fish lived there with their two boys, Glen and Gaylan and a daughter, Billie Fish.
I worked in the box factory that summer and made $.85 per hour with a 2 and 1/2 cent raise. I met my first girlfriend that summer, Billie Shelly and dated her all summer. It made a lasting impression on my mind. CJ Jacobs

Comments: Enjoyed reading the history of Doris, especially about the town of Pickard. Frank Pickard was my great,great grandfather. I have visited your town and the Pickard cemetery. Has a cemetery project ever been completed? When I last visited Doris, I met with one of the cemetery board members who informed me that they might be establishing a road monument at the entrance to the cemetery. Was that ever done? Comments: I drive through DORRIS all the time, on the way to Redding and the Bay Area. I am considering buying a house there, since prices are so cheap !

Plus, it's still California -- my birthplace (i.e. the Bay Area).

Dorris is nice, just needs more businesses and revenue to bolster the local economy (DUH !)

Comments: I was born in Klamath Falls Oregon because at the time my parents lived in Dorris there was no hospital. I lived in Dorris untill my parents Wilbur and Mary Welch moved to So. Ca. I lived there from 1948 - 1954. I remember playing "I get it" in the park and having great times there, We lived right accross the street from that park. My Dad owned one of the gas stations in town, I think the Shell station. I remember the Red Barn, I took ballet lessons there when I was a little girl and we went there for other activities all the time. It was nice to find this web site.

Comments: My Grandparents (Nonna & Nonno Coppe) lived in Dorris for years. I loved coming to visit them and all my other relatives too. We were mostly there in the Fall/Winter months, but I also remember staying a month or so during the Summer. Those were some great family times together that I really miss. Comments: I spent the first 25 years of my life in Dorris, my Father is buried at the Picard Cemetary.I left when I was 25, and I've spent the last 10 years trying to find my way back(Economically that is)I left for the same reason all young people do, Work! My 5 year old daughter has never seen snow, or real Mountains. I had to pull up this website to show her a real Cowboy.
